Land of the lotus=eaters'...

On the sultry Mediterranean just off the coast of Africa is the tiny Isle of Jerba.

It is believed this little slice of the Sahara in the Mediterranean,

was the inspiration for James Joyce's mythical lotus-eaters' land...

which seduced Ulysses into staying forever.
