You put the lime in the basil and shake it all up....

Should have posted this little darlin' on Friday.
not so much a Sunday morning post...sigh
However...The in house mixologist that would be the husband
Had tried a version of this while on business in Atlanta.
A Basil and Lime infused martini...
We have Limes...We have basil....Let's Go!
This is a tingly refreshing Summer drink.
yep...it's coming folks. Promise
  • 6 large basil leaves1 small basil leaf or a very small "cluster" of basil leaves for garnish
  • 1/4 c. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 3/4 of your favorite vodka .
  • 3 parts water 3 parts sugar.try 3 Tbsp to 3 Tbsp...

um...about. I am not the best measurer...so I am told.
Simmer sugar and water together in a small saucepan until slightly thickened and just barely syrupy. Cool.

Tear large basil leaves (reserve the small ones) lightly and add to sugar mixture...

The smell of fresh torn basil is heavenly...

well to me...not so much to the ravaged basil.

Muddle (smash) together until leaves are well bruised.

~Ouch ~

(This is much easier if you have a "real" muddler, but you can also use a wooden spoon or potato masher, etc.)

Add lime juice and vodka. Chill (with ice) in a martini shaker and strain into a pre-chilled martini glass.

Add small basil leaf garnish.

Sip under a giant palm tree while the warm breezes sway the fronds...

Make a giant batch and store it in the freezer.... remove basil leaves before freezing It won't freeze,

so it can be poured straight from the freezer shake first, because the lime juice and syrup will settle to the bottom.

Then call me.

I can be over in a jif
