touch of the tropics…

My favorite tropical designer...

Made Wijaya

has a line of lighting

that always blows me away… see here

I would love a few of these hanging in our small sub-tropical jungle...

sugar spun paradise…

Come….sit.

no really

zanz14 Let your mind float

seriously

zanz5

Step inside a paradise

seemingly built of sugar crystals

sweet, refined, indulgent…

zanz10

zanz12

The pavilions of Kilindi in Zanzibar Tanzania

are more functional art than resort…

zanz11

Beautifully they maximize light and space,

paying homage to the views surrounding them...

zanz9

zanz13

Each of the 15 domed sleeping quarters

are surrounded by

cascading rain-water pools

and

lush tropical gardens

Private jungle reserve could be yours…or mine…

Join me on a little excursion…deeper South…Belize

The heart of the once Mayan empire

where turquoise waters lap up to the jungle’s edge...

kan5

Where relaxation is fairly effortless

like maybe a big toe in the sand to move the slowing hammock

kan Heading toward what is reminiscent

of Mayan huts

kan4

Only a small spit of sand separates the cool pool

from the warm Caribbean waters

ahhh

kan2

We can each have an individual round cabana

thatched in Palm.

With windows picturesquely crisscrossed with local branches

to prevent neon-colored tropical birds

so bright they look gaudy

from stopping in

kan8

kan9

Trees…in their entirety…make chairs, railings, lamps.

The walls are colored by rubbing natural dyes into them with cloths

Kanantik reef

This resort is conveniently for sale…and could be yours for the asking.

Well… 8 million clams…

and the asking.

Habla Hacienda??

In the village of Santa Rosa Mexico...

where blues are just

bluesier.

And pink is just rosier…

Exterior_Hacienda_Santa_Rosa

Is a beautiful old 18th century Hacienda

with just 11 rooms,

it is a place to relax

and just be…

santa rosa12

This charming villa buried in the heart of the Yucatan is surrounded by

major archeological zones and colonial villages

santa rosa10

But... I dunno

I might just sit and dazingly oogle the

beautiful architecture of the hacienda…

maybe with a cool salty margarita in my hand...maybe

Grounds%20at%20The%20Hacienda%20Ochil%20photo%20by%20The%20Haciendas

…or perhaps taking a dunk in my private

plunge pool

why not?

santa rosa1

Each of the rooms have been restored

maintaining their original beams

and 10 foot doors….

The grounds are

more like a botanical garden

…and look…

santa rosa9

They decorate the beds each night with fragrant bouganvillea

just like ours are done at home...each night

snort.

Dream your Hacienda dreams here

Hacienda Santa Rosa de Lima.

...I'm off to make little pink houses out of bouganvillea blossoms

as I make all the beds.

Warmth…

Today…I am floating

19

Just being.

1

07

swaying…

08

Sipping…

06

Drifting off under the coconuts

20

Catching up…

17

…Taken care of

15

…being celebrated.

16

And then...

The alarm goes off.

poof.
